It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through September!
The new academic quarter at UCSD is less than two weeks away, and we invite you to join us for our weekly lab meetings, which will be held on Thursday afternoons from 12:30-2pm in 3545 Mandler Hall. Each week will feature lively discussions about our research, updates from members of the lab, and (often) a presentation featuring new information we’ve learned from our most recent work.
Lab meetings start on September 26th, and we’ll continue meeting throughout the term. We hope to see you there!
Congratulations to the LAD lab’s long-time lab coordinator, Ashlie Pankonin, who will be starting a PhD in Language and Communicative Disorders through a program jointly hosted by UC San Diego and San Diego State University. Ashlie’s invaluable contributions to our lab have helped us collect data from thousands of participants, paving the way for future work on language and conceptual development in children. Thank you, Ashlie!
This summer, we are also welcoming a new lab coordinator, Kelly Kendro, to take over Ashlie’s role. Kelly is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan who holds a B.A. with high honors in Cognitive Science and Romance Languages. Welcome, Kelly!
The LAD lab also thanks the parents and educators who continue to support our work. Without you, our research would not be possible.
On Tuesday, our collaborator, Petra Mismas, from the Center for Cognitive Science of Language at the University of Nova Gorica will be presenting some of the work she has done in Slovenia at our lab meeting. The title of her presentation is "Searching for the basis of the hierarchy of adjectives.” Please join us to hear about her exciting work!
Our latest newsletter describing some of our recent findings is now available! Thank you to all directors, families, and participants for your collaboration. Our research would not be possible without you!
