Dr. David Barner is hiring a full-time laboratory coordinator to start July 1, 2017 or later.
The lab conducts research on language acquisition and conceptual development, including cross-cultural and cross-linguistic differences in each area, including color, number, time, formal semantics and pragmatics, and moral reasoning. Duties include managing and leading research projects in the lab: designing studies, creating stimuli, analyzing data, testing infant, toddler, and adults, and preparing manuscripts for publication. The position also involves administrative duties, such as interviewing and hiring undergraduate volunteers, managing subject recruitment, lab equipment, and planning lab events and meetings. All past lab coordinators have co-authored research papers during their tenure and continued on to top PhD programs in the country.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Linguistics, Cognitive Science
- Reliable mode of transportation in order to perform field research in San Diego
- Experience working with children / infants / human subjects
- Strong organizational and writing skills
- Knowledge of Excel and statistical programs such as R/JMP/SPSS, and database software such as Filemaker Pro is highly preferred.
